(Mix 93-1)  As a child of the 80s, the arcade was just a part of my life. Now, it appears that one well-known brand associated with children is looking to revive the arcade experience.

Why Arcades Are Making a Comeback

As a teen, I would visit the arcade nearly weekly at Forum 303 Mall and Six Flags Mall in Arlington, Texas, to play Donkey Kong, Mortal Kombat, Frogger, Defender, Space Invaders, Q*Bert, Spy Hunter, Centipede, and so many others, including the icons, Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man!

One of my first jobs was working at Six Flags Over Texas, and there I got to work in the arcades and the big Skee Ball Palace, where you played games to earn tickets to redeem for prizes.

Knowing this now, you can see how the news of arcades opening up across the nation excites me!

The Chuck E. Cheese Childhood Connection

Before being able to hit up the arcade by myself, I remember going to Chuck E. Cheese's and ShowBiz Pizza as a younger child and playing the games and earning those tickets to redeem for prizes.

As an adult, I can do that once again without being surrounded by a dozen noisy birthday parties, thanks to a new arcade concept called 'Chuck's Arcade'.

What Is Chuck’s Arcade?

Chuck's Arcade is a spin-off of Chuck E. Cheese. The company has opened up 10 of these stand-alone arcades that are packed with new and old school games.

The company describes the experience as a modern-day love letter to the games and people who made Chuck E. Cheese great.

Donkey Kong and Mortal Kombat are there along with new titles, and each location is overseen by an animatronic character like Chuck E. Cheese himself and a member of the Munch's Make Believe Band. Unfortunately, they're standing watch and not performing this time.

You can still earn those tickets, save them up, and redeem them for prizes and merchandise at the redemption counter. If you don't have the patience to wait and earn more tickets, some merch will be available for sale.

For now, it'll be a road trip for me to visit a Chuck's Arcade because the nearest location to us is the Oklahoma City or Tulsa location, or we can go out west to El Paso!

Where Can You Find Chuck’s Arcade?

Here's where you can find all of the mall-based Chuck's Arcade locations:
