Hunting for the 24,000 Rare 250th Anniversary Quarters Hidden in Texas

Roto Grinders analyzed all 50 states to determine where the rare quarters are most likely to appear. According to the study, an estimated 23,960 of the quarters could currently be circulating in Texas. I got a chance to look at the new quarter, and keep in mind, this isn't going to have the same design you're used to seeing. I actually like it much more than the traditional quarter. Instead of simply changing the back of the coin, the U.S. Mint completely redesigned the front.

Inside the Plan to Hide 24,000 Rare 250th Quarters Across Texas

"In God We Trust" still appears on the coin, but the traditional profile of George Washington has been replaced with a new design featuring figures of Liberty holding a quill, a torch, and a trumpet. The coin also includes the dual date, 1776–2026, commemorating America's semiquincentennial. It's a really beautiful design, and if you happen to find one, keep it; don't spend it! It's a truly special collectible.
