For Brodnex, his loss of an estimated amount of money between $2,000-$3,000 isn't easy to take. He told KRBC:

“I invested more money trying to see whether or not I can win this money because the purchase was Apple cards that I was supposed to have been purchasing to obtain my winnings...I’ve lost so much now; I’ve lost my wife… I lost anywhere from two to three G (grand).”

Sadly, the growth of these situations is showing no signs of stopping. Better Business Bureau of Abilene CEO John Riggins stated to KRBC that “It puts these scams into overdrive. I’ve seen these scams back when they were just direct mail pieces, and now, you get the Internet, you get an email."

It's important to remain vigilant while on the internet. Be smart and safe online Texas!
