Being an adult is kind of whack, no one asks you what your favorite dinosaur is anymore! With the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth, I feel like this is the perfect time to begin asking everyone what their favorite dinosaur is. If you were to ask what a Texan's favorite dino is, I'm sure you'll hear the same answer!

In a state where everything’s bigger, bolder, and a little bit louder, it only makes sense that Texans would have strong opinions about dinosaurs. And now, the results are in. The Lone Star State has picked its prehistoric favorite, and no, it doesn’t wear a cowboy hat (but we wouldn’t be surprised if someone’s already Photoshopped that). Whether you’re a dino diehard or just here for the fossil fun, this Texas-approved creature is stomping straight into the spotlight.

Turns out, we’re not the only ones dino-obsessed. A new report from Employers.com looked at Google search trends to determine the most popular dinosaur in every state- and in Texas, the winner comes with some serious prehistoric swagger.

What is Texas’s Favorite Dinosaur?

In true Texas fashion, we went big. The Lone Star State’s most searched dinosaur is none other than the Tyrannosaurus rex- a towering, sharp-toothed icon built to dominate. It’s loud, it’s legendary, and it definitely doesn’t skip leg day. Honestly, if any dinosaur were going to drive a lifted truck and order the #1 at Whataburger, it’d be the T. rex!

Texas wasn’t alone in its dino devotion. The T. rex didn’t just take the crown here- it absolutely dominated the national list! From coast to coast, this prehistoric powerhouse crushed the competition.

So whether you're a lifelong dino nerd or just here for the fossil facts, one thing’s clear: the T. rex is still king- at least in Texas (and eight other states!) proving some legends never go extinct. You can check out the entire study here.
