Thanks to an internet coup by Something Awful’s David Thorpe and Jon Hendren, Pitbull may be spending some time in a remote island in Alaska. Seriously.

According to Gawker, the hip-hop star is participating in a promotional campaign for Sheets-brand Energy Strips in which he will visit the Walmart location that receives the most ‘likes’ on Facebook by mid-July. “I’m excited to find out which local Walmart store has the most new likes so I can share the experience of using Energy Sheets® with my fans,” Pitbull said in a press release.

However, Thorpe and Hendren have derailed the promo stunt by rallying thousands to like the official page of Walmart Kodiak on Facebook. It is the most remote Walmart store in America, and its Facebook page currently boasts over 35,000 likes.

An Alaskan Reddit user, who has shopped at the Kodiak store, says it’s unlike other brick-and-mortar locations of the retail chain. “It’s not a regular sized Walmart,” bastion72 reports. “It’s about half the size and sells all sorts of strange stuff. Bear repellant, snow shoes, hunting gear etc.”

Voting ends on July 15 at 8PM ET and if all goes as planned, Kodiak may be the most-liked store by then. However, Pitbull may be able to escape this social deportation. According to the press release, the event scheduling is “subject to Artist’s availability. Walmart reserves the right to amend, modify or terminate this promotion in its sole discretion.”
