Lady Gaga‘s parents Joe and Cynthia Germanotta are officially opening their long-discussed Italian eatery Joanne Trattoria next Wednesday, Feb. 1. The restaurant is located on West 68th Street and will serve up the kind of Italian fare the Mother Monster grew up eating and enjoying.
On this special, Sunday night, post-NFC championship game edition of ‘American Idol,’ the producers hit San Diego, the So Cal city where the whether is always nice, to mine some talent. The auditions took place on the USS Midway, which was loud, but there was a crop of quality wannabes that got golden tickets to the next round.
Move over Elle Woods of ‘Legally Blonde.’ Another famous and fashionable flaxen-haired gal is headed to Harvard and it’s Lady Gaga. Gaga and the original Mother Monster, her mom Cynthia Germanotta, will launch their Born This Way Foundation at Harvard’s Sanders Theatre on Feb.29. What a fun way to spend leap year!
Rihanna contributed vocals to Coldplay‘s song ‘Princess of China’ on ‘Mylo Xyloto.’ While it’s quite possible that RiRi, Chris Martin and co. were never in the same room when she laid down her vocals, thanks to the wonders of technology, they will get on the same stage this February, when they perform together for the first time at the Grammys.
It’s been a busy week in the social media sphere for Lady Gaga. While she and Rihanna duke it out over Facebook “Likes” (RiRi is currently atop that heap) and YouTube views (another battle won by RiRi in the social media war), Gaga cruised passed a whopping 18 million followers on Twitter over the weekend.
This means war! DJ White Shadow, who worked as a producer on Lady Gaga‘s ‘Born This Way,’ has entered the Gaga vs. Madonna fray. By now, you know the story. Madge finally commented on ‘Born This Way,’ calling it “reductive“ on ‘Good Morning America’ and also telling Newsweek that it was a “wonderful way to redo my song.” While the Material Girl did say that she thinks Gaga is talented, the focus has been squarely on the not-so-positive commentary. The little monsters are on the attack, and now, so is DJ White Shadow. Sort of.
Rihanna skipped Wednesday night’s (Jan. 11) People’s Choice Awards ceremony to do something a little more recreational. The ‘We Found Love’ singer instead attended a L.A. Clippers game. Normally, that wouldn’t be that big of a deal, since artists miss awards galas and fetes all the time due to scheduling conflicts. However, Ri wasn’t miles away. She was actually in the same vicinity, taking in a basketball game that was mere feet away!
From the “Backhanded Compliment” Department: Madonna has finally commented on the title track from Lady Gaga‘s ‘Born This Way.’ When the song dropped about a year ago, it was instantly met with accusations that Gaga had blatantly and directly ripped off and copied Madge’s 1989 hit, ‘Express Yourself.’ It was not lost on Madonna herself, who only recently referred to the song as a ‘redo.’
Christina Aguilera was once known for stripping down and showing off her assets. But as she grew up, she went for a more old Hollywood glam look, all the while baring her ample cleavage and curves. On her February 2012 Marie Claire cover, Xtina covers up and she still stuns! That’s called natural beauty.
Those rumors that Beyonce and Jay-Z shelled out $1.3 million to Lenox Hill hospital’s maternity ward in order to have exclusive access when giving birth to Blue Ivy, which caused headaches for other new parents? Not true, according to a rep for the hospital.
While Bey and Jay certainly have the means to have done so and given the fact that they are first time parents that dealt with a previous miscarriage, the hospital says they didn’t accept any diva antics or payouts.
