As part of the recent promo tour for her forthcoming movie Office Christmas Party, Jennifer Aniston has made the talkshow rounds, delivering refreshingly honest interviews covering topics ranging from her new film to the destructive nature of tabloids.

Keeping in line with that transparency, Aniston delivered some crushing news to any fans holding out hope for new episodes of Friends: It’s not gonna happen.

“I don’t know what we would do,” she said during an interview with Lorraine Kelly, when asked whether a reboot was in consideration. “I think that period of time was sort of nostalgic.

“I think why people have such an affection for it is because, even though it was only 12 years ago when it ended — or 13, it’s getting father and father away — there was something about a time where our faces weren’t shoved into cell phones and we weren’t checking Facebook and Instagram,” she said.

“We were in a room together or in a coffee shop together and we were talking, having conversations,” she continued. “We’ve lost that.”

But while the Horrible Bosses actress has no intention of returning to a Central Perk soundstage, Aniston maintains she looks back on her time with the show fondly, and she understands why Friends still resonates with viewers.

“It was something that I feel — not only was it a gift for us, but it’s something people have been able to carry with them,” she said. “It’s comfort food and it makes them feel better when they’re feeling down, and when they want to distract themselves they can always — it’s always on, you can pretty much find it everywhere.”
