Whitney Houston‘s untimely death on Feb. 11 at 3:55PM PT shocked the music industry and fans to their core, as Houston was only 48 years old. But with music’s biggest night (the 2012 Grammy Awards) happening tomorrow night, many have been wondering: How will the Recording Industry honor the ‘I Will Always Love You’ singer?

With less than 24 hours to put something together, Grammy executive producer Ken Erhlich and his crew announced (via L.A. Times Music Blog) that they have asked ‘American Idol‘ alum and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson to sing a “respectful musical tribute” Sunday night.

“It’s too fresh in everyone’s memory to do more at this time,” Ehrlich stated. “But we would be remiss if we didn’t recognize Whitney’s remarkable contribution to music fans in general, and in particular her close ties with the Grammy telecast and her Grammy wins and nominations over the years.”

Ehrlich, who has been involved with the Grammys for the last 30 years (give or take), also mentioned to the L.A. Times that he’s been saddened by Houston’s decline in health and partying habits.

“It’s hard to think of an artist who had such an incredible instrument, not to mention beauty, which made her difficulties in recent years even harder to accept,” he added.

We here at PopCrush are looking forward to the tribute tomorrow night, and know Hudson will do a remarkable job in her performance, inevitably reminding us of the beautiful voice we just lost. We wonder what song(s) she will sing?
