Columbia Records released a posthumous collaboration between the late rappers Lil Peep and XXXTentacion titled "Falling Down" this morning (Sept. 19), and according to Variety, the label is also preparing to drop a full album of unreleased Lil Peep material.

"Falling Down," to which XXXTentacion added his vocals after Peep's death, is presumed to feature on the upcoming project. "Sunlight on Your Skin," the original version of the song, which Peep wrote and recorded in London with ILoveMakonnen, is expected to drop next week, Makonnen told XXL.

Lil Peep died of a drug overdose last November at the age of 21. His unpublished recordings were reportedly purchased in March by Columbia, which released Peep's Clams Casino-produced single "4 Gold Chains" in May.

The posthumous release of Lil Peep's archival material, specifically the collaboration with XXXTentacion, has been met with controversy from the "Awful Things" rapper's fans and fellow GothBoiClique members.

When Makonnen first teased "Falling Down" in August, GBC artist Fish Narc said on Instagram that Peep "explicitly rejected XXX for his abuse of women, spent time and money getting XXX’s songs removed from his Spotify playlists, and wouldn’t have co-signed that song," urging fans not to listen to the song. GothBoiClique's Twitter account tweeted, "fuck you @columbiarecords."

When the song's official release was announced yesterday, Peep's mother Liza Womack posted a lengthy note on Instagram addressing the prospect of releasing re-worked versions of her son's unreleased material without his consent.

"I look forward to releasing Gus's original work, and to hearing how other musical artists take inspiration from songs, here and there, and re-work them to create new pieces of music," Womack wrote. "It will be interesting to listen to the different versions. We will each have our own favorites. And that is okay."

A new Lil Peep album would be his first since last August's Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 1. You can listen to "Falling Down" below.
