The four new movies opening in theaters this weekend include everything from action to heartwarming family fare to Whitney Houston’s last big-screen appearance.

Jordin Sparks appeared on the ‘TODAY’ show on Wednesday (Aug. 15), where she opened up about her new movie, ‘Sparkle,’ as well as her late co-star Whitney Houston.

With the notable exception of the ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ more and more summer blockbuster contenders are now being offered in 3D. While the virtues of the technology are still up for debate, there seems to have been an unintended consequence of the extra dimension: all 3D movies are now exactly the same.

In anticipation of the new Batman movie coming out this Friday night, we rented "Batman Begins" on demand from Suddenlink tonight.  Got about 10 min in and "the daughter" (she had never seen it) had to go take a shower, so I am waiting and I thought I would let you know about something cool going on at Carmike Cinemas this Thursday night.
