What Is Being Built Behind Beard’s In Lufkin?

If you drive down HWY 59/I 69 you will notice as you pass the shopping center where Beard Fine Jewelry is, there is a large empty field. This used to be where El Chico and the Scenic Acres Mobile Home Subdivision were located.

It's a total of 26 acres and stretches down the loop behind Marcos Pizza. We now know that it will one day be a new Brookshire Brothers store.

As more dirt work and other projects happen at the site, more and more people are seeing that something is going on there, and it has piqued their interest.

The expectations have risen very high for this new location. Brookshire Brothers recently built the 40,000-square-foot "Stage 12" store in College Station.

Since Lufkin is the starting place for Brookshire Brothers, if this store is anything less than the one in College Station, some Lufkin shoppers will not be impressed. No matter what it turns out to be it will be clean and new; and for me, that will be enough.

We haven't gotten many details from Brookshire Brothers themselves, but just looking at all of the space there, almost anything could happen.
