Central band students to perform with Dallas Brass [VIDEO]

In December of 2010, Central started the district's first band program from scratch. Tuesday, the Dallas Brass paid the group a visit.

The band will perform with the young group Tuesday night at a concert.

The members said they all started in school bands and want to encourage Central's young musicians to keep practicing.

"Getting a chance to play for beginning band kids and early, first, second, third-year band kids is the ultimate for us because we all started playing in band and the reason we're all here today is because we got excited about music thanks to concerts that we heard and influences of their teachers," Dallas Brass Founder Michael Levine said.

"It makes me feel like I can look up to them even though they're brass I can look up to them and think, I'm going to sound like that on my clarinet one day because there are high notes and there are low notes that I'm going to reach to one day," said Sarah Phillips, a Central band student.

"I heard 'Dynamite' and I really like that song because I hear it almost every day and they did it really well," said Ryan Houston, a Central band student. "Well of course they were going to do it well, but they were good and I like how they play and stuff."

Dallas Brass will be performing a song with the sixth and seventh graders Tonight at 7 p.m. at Clawson Assembly of God.
