Marvel at the Amazing Space Capes of the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Cast in New Vanity Fair Covers

When you woke up this morning you might have felt something. No, it wasn’t the rumbling of the garbage truck outside your window or the screeching pain caused by your blaring alarm clock. It was the Force.

It’s that time of the year again when Vanity Fair partners up with Annie Leibovitz to debut brand new Star Wars photos. This year, in honor of the 40th anniversary of A New Hope, you don’t just get one juicy Star Wars cover but four! Leibowitz has been photographing characters from a galaxy far far away for the magazine since The Phantom Menace in 1999 – and who could forget her fantastic shots for The Force Awakens? The new covers for The Last Jedi feature everyone from Oscar Isaac’s Poe and Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma to the late Carrie Fisher’s General Leia.

First up, Daisy Ridley poses beside her dad Mark Hamill.

We also get a look at the return of Isaac’s Poe, John Boyega’s Finn, and most exciting, the first official look at Kelly Marie Tran’s new character Rose. Tran briefly discussed Rose at Star Wars Celebration Orlando last month, a maintenance worker in the Resistance.

Now to the Dark Side. One of the most exciting things about The Last Jedi isn’t just the return of our favorite heroes, but the First Order villains. Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren is back with a fresh scar on his face, Domhnall Gleeson’s General Hux is looking as domineering as ever, and most thrilling, the cover offers the official first look of Christie’s Captain Phasma sans helmet. After new Game of Thrones Season 7 photos and a first look at Top of the Lake‘s second season, it’s a good week to be a Gwendoline Christie fan.

I’ve saved the best for last though, Fisher on her very own cover. Leia’s stunning brown space cape might take the award for the best costume of them all, and that sharp jutted collar might just make you fall out of your chair. Just look at her.

With the 40th anniversary arriving in just a couple days, you can expect more exclusive looks from Vanity Fair this week, and lots of Star Wars content from the rest of the internet. Until then, why not rewatch The Last Jedi trailer a few more times? The film, directed by Rian Johnson, hits theaters December 15.
