5 Must See Events At The Texas State Forest Festival in Lufkin

The Texas State Forest Festival gets underway tonight at the George H. Henderson Expo Center on the loop in Lufkin. The 38th annual festival runs every night until this Sunday, September 18th, 2022.

They are doing it big this year post-covid and bringing the heat with a lot of new things at the Forest Festival. There is a lot going on, but there are a few key events that you won't want to miss.

There is still time to make some plans to come out and enjoy the festival the rest of the week. Here are a few of the events that everyone is looking forward to seeing.

1. The Alabama-Coushatta Tribal Dancers Performance

Back in the day, my family would go to the Alabama-Coushatta reservation and take in a fantastic show. Now you can see these colorful dancers during the Forest Festival.

You can attend this performance Thursday, September 15th, at 7:45 pm in the main arena. Gates open at 5 pm today and close at 10 pm. Tickets are $8 and kids under 3 get in free.

2. The Pineywoods Car Show

The 2022 Pineywoods Car Show will be located on the pavement at the Angelina Expo Center on Friday, September 16th. Be there when the gates open to see all the slick cars and trucks.

3. Big Axe BBQ Competition

Backyard BBQ Kings will converge on the Texas State Forest Festival on Friday and stay overnight watching their pits in anticipation of winning bragging rights in Deep East Texas. The award presentation is Saturday at 2 pm.

4. Pirates Of The Sky Performances

You can catch this performance any day during the Texas State Forest Festival. The Sky Pirates will be bringing danger and excitement with the Globe of Death motorcycle stunt act.

5. The Extreme Raptor Show

The Angelina County Expo Center will be home to the world's largest traveling collection of raptors during the Forest Festival. See these birds of prey perform during their exciting 30-minute show any night of the Texas State Forest Festival.
