Angelina County Approves New Power Plant Tax Break
The Angelina County Commissioners have approved a 10-year tax abatement for a company named Long Leaf Generating LLC. It will be structured as a 100% abatement for the first three years, then the amount of taxes they will have to pay will slowly increase yearly.

They are getting this tax break from our county as an incentive to invest $690 million here, and $350 million must be invested in the facility. The company is also required to create nine full-time jobs in the area.
This doesn't mean that any of us have to pay more taxes, and the incentive doesn't last forever. Then we will have a new industry here that works hard to deliver instant power to the Texas grid when needed.

Long Leaf Generating LLC will build a natural gas power plant in the Long Leaf Reinvestment Zone. According to KTRE, the power plant will use natural gas to generate electricity during peak times, like summer or severe winter events.
They will be there to get power on the grid when Texans need it most. Completion of the facility could take over 5 years, and they could start construction as early as 2026 on the site. This is not a done deal just yet; the City of Lufkin and Lufkin ISD must also approve the tax abatements.
