A second stolen vehicle pursuit in the same week for area law enforcement. This one had DPS, Angelina County Sheriff's Department, and the Lufkin Police Department involved. According to the LPD this pursuit started at 11:25am at Walmart. Deputies then gave chase across the Whitehouse overpass, and then right on highway 58. In retrospect, I'll bet they wished they had turned right, and out of town.

Once they were almost all the way down Highway 58 with top speed at 100mph. This model of truck has a limiter at 100, so I know it didn't get much over. They hemmed themselves in and once in town, they gave up and bailed at U Bank right before you get to Brookshire Brothers on Chestnut.

Once they bailed they started disposing of contraband, and a gun was recovered at the scene. One suspect was caught near the vehicle, and one made it to the back of Lufkin Bar B Que before he was apprehended. Three in custody, no one was injured, and luckily DPS was already there to file an interdepartmental report. The stolen truck came to rest and rolled into one of the LPD cruisers at the end of the chase.

This time the vehicle was not stolen out of state. This white Chevrolet 4X4 truck was the target of theft in the Bald Hill subdivision of Lufkin just 2 weeks ago. They actually drove past the street the truck was stolen on during the chase. Thanks for all our local law enforcement for a great job, and I am sure the owner of the truck will be very glad to have it back.
