The boil water notice for the City Of Lufkin that was just issued also came with a plea. The City of Lufkin's water supply is critically low. Citizens must reduce water usage until further notice. If citizens to not immediately reduce usage, we will not have any water to drip to keep our pipes from freezing. They are currently delivering more water than they can produce.

Many different issues are going on around town that made this situation worse. The City is on backup power on some of their plants, when on backup power, you can't produce at top capacity because they can't use the boosters.

They are also asking that if you have a water leak at all, to get that shut off now. Walk your properties and businesses to check for leaks both inside and outside. If you need help turning it off, call the non-emergency number at 936-633-0356 and they will come and shut the water off for you.

Their have been reports of limbs on power lines, power poles, power lines, and trees across road. There are cars in ditches due to the ice on the roads. So once again if you can stay home, do so.

Water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil for 2 minutes. We will notify the customers when it's no longer necessary to boil the water.
