Even though I am usually only armed with my cell phone, I think I take a pretty great picture, once in awhile. You just have to be open to the beauty around you. That can be hard when you live in this beautiful lush green place we call East Texas. People come here from all over the world, and are amazed by the foliage, and the constant humidity. Just use new eyes when you are out in and around Nacogdoches. You will be amazed at what you can find.

Our weather can also be just as exciting as nature. Ominous grey skies, with tendrils of lightning, regularly arching from cloud to cloud. Puffy white clouds that Bob Ross would be proud of, set on a brilliant blue background. It's just a regular occurrence here. I think those are just a few reasons that this photo contest hosted by the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau is so interesting. Deadline is coming up this Friday, so pick your best pic and get entered.

The Nacogdoches CVB invites you to "Capture Nacogdoches" by participating in our official 2018 photography contest. Entries will be accepted Monday, Aug. 27, through Friday, Sept. 28. A maximum of two entries may be submitted per person. All photographs must be taken in Nacogdoches County and fall into a designated category. (See attached guidelines form.) Photos submitted will be displayed during a reception Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Charles Bright Visitor Center. Winners will be announced at that time. Additional details can be found on the details and guidelines form below. For questions, call (936) 564-7351.
