It is officially Texas wedding season. Though most places in the United States have weddings in the Spring or Summer, the rainy days and withering heat in the Lone Star State make an outdoor wedding a bit soggy.

October is usually dry, and if you have the event outside at the end of the month, you might even be able to breathe. Now you know when to have a wedding in Texas, but what should you wear if you are a guest?

You know what you are wearing if you are in the bridal party or the bride herself. As a guest, there are many wedding faux pas to navigate.

Don't Wear These Colors To A Texas Wedding

There are exceptions to every rule, and knowing the bride and her "vision" for the wedding is a good start. Here are some colors to avoid if you are attending someone's big day.

White - Unless the bride puts on the invitation that all of the guests should wear white, do not do it. Everyone at the reception looks around for the one girl wearing white and, two is a crowd.

Red - There is something about red that really draws the eye. If you wear a bright red dress, especially in a sea of muted pastel colors, you will stand out like a sore thumb in all the photos. Bright, fire engine red is just too distracting. It also could be seen as a signal to a Texas bride that you slept with the groom. Try something in the cranberry family.

Black - A little black dress is generally always appropriate unless you are in the bride's family. Some might think you object to the wedding, or view it as someone's funeral. If the bride is having a wedding at a bar and it says ‘cocktail attire’ on the invite, go for it. Otherwise, pick a color, literally any color... that isn't white or red.

Telling you what not to wear, and not giving you some suggestions is just bad form. There are so many to choose from but gold, pink, or blue is always a solid choice.
