Dan’s Day Trips – Tyler Celtic Festival
How am I just now hearing about this one? It's the 5th Annual Tyler Celtic Festival next weekend, May 17th, 18th, and 19th. There are so many different things going on during this festival. Tickets look to be very affordable, you can CLICK HERE for the details.
It's time once again for our annual celebration of the Scottish, Irish, and Welsh heritage that makes us proud to be Celts! This is our fifth year and we are moving to a new location with much more room! (We will be located just outside of Chapel Hill on HWY 64 E, about three miles past the High School...only 10 minutes from Loop 323!) This is still the event you know and love, but with more performances, more games, more food, and more fun!
Imagine a medieval faire that focuses on more specific ancestry and less randomness. Imagine a place in the forest where you can come and watch dancers, listen to bardic storytellers, hear singers, and participate in games of skill! Imagine a place where historic costuming is encouraged but not required, where there is plenty of shade and where there is lots of room to move. Imagine enjoying yourself while you learn about history and celebrate the Celtic past and present! That sort of place is exactly what we are creating!
There will be four stages of entertainment going throughout both days! There will be Highland Games for both adults and children! There will be lots of vendors with unique and fabulous wares! There will be moments of surprises and hilarity, among moments of learning and brotherhood!
At only $3 a ticket for 13 and up (kids are free) this is actually the first year they have had to charge. Belly dancers, singers, bands and a full 3 days of history and games. Tyler Celtic Fest seems to have a lot to offer.
