Deer Mistakes Sculpture For The Real Thing In The Woodlands, Texas
If you live in or around the Woodlands area, you might recognize these large signs that proudly display the name of the neighborhood. In front of them, there are a few bronze deer sculptures.
According to the Houston Chronicle back in 2012 these deer statues were stolen from their corner at FM 1488 and Texas 242. They were replaced and recreated by sculptor, Edd Hays.
They are very heavy with even the smallest doe weighing in around 100lbs. They are also very realistic, which is a credit to the sculptor himself.

Here at the opening of deer season, the bucks have been very active. It's rutting season and they are running around keen to mate.
It's peek breeding season at this moment, so deer will do what they do. They just don't usually do it in a heavily populated area at a large intersection.
TikTok user @ebgood got some footage during a recent drive through the Woodlands of what appears to be a very confused deer. What happened next most likely led to more than one birds and bees discussion as families waited at the red light.
Not Something You Expect To See At The Red Light
In the clip a child can be heard saying, "Look there is a deer on top of the fake deer”. The parent can then be heard saying as calmly as possible, "I know that's crazy".
If you ever had any questions about there being real deer in the Woodlands, now you know. I salute this father for holding his composure and capturing this hilarious moment.
