Yesterday, a Texas DPS Trooper attempted to stop a Cadillac SUV in Shelby County for a traffic violation. At this point, the driver fled. After a short chase near Joaquin, the suspect stopped, and proceeded to back into the DPS patrol vehicle. This caused significant damage to the patrol vehicle, and prompted the DPS Trooper to fire at him.

At this point, the suspect fired at DPS striking the windshield of the patrol vehicle, before taking off again.

The suspect has since been identified at Antonio Aguilar, 28, from Center. There has been a felony warrant for attempted capital murder issued for his arrest, with a $5 million bond. Aguilar is still on the run at this time.

If you have any information about the location of this man, you can contact DPS Lufkin Communications at 936-699-7340. You are also encouraged to contact local law enforcement at 9-1-1.
