As far as intersections go, I feel pretty confident that Lufkin has the absolute worst one. And, it's right outside the radio station...This intersection is the the stuff that nightmares are made of.

I'm talking about where Timberland and First Street converge, and intersect with Raguet. Take a look:

Stop signs? Merely suggestions.

Coming to a complete stop? Totally optional.

Human decency / Common courtesy? Highly unlikely.

These are the kind of things that you deal with at this intersection. And we would know. We deal with it on a daily basis. Hardly a day goes by that we don't hear the squealing of tires as someone slams on the brakes. Often times, that sound is also accompanied by the sound of a car horn going off, and/or a long string of loud profanity as yet another driver finds out just how much EVERYONE dislikes that intersection.

But really, I'm curious if people know how this intersection really works. Basically, it's supposed to work like a regular four-way stop, where everyone has to come to a complete stop and wait until it's safe to advance.

And, I think that something as simple as the installation of a traffic light could fix some, if not all, of these problems. But, what do I know?
