The train is not running, but there is word that the Lufkin Lion's Club that runs the train is working to make riding the train safe for the guests. The concession stand and the gift shop are both closed still. The small animals building is closed and there are modifications to other areas. Water fountains and vending machines are closed.
They are asking their patrons to do their part in making sure every is safe and not spreading disease. Wearing face masks is strongly encouraged, they also ask that you practice social distancing from other family groups. High traffic areas will be sanitized frequently.
So if you are planning a trip to the Ellen Trout Zoo, just click here to see their facebook page, and make your own decisions about going. It's been really nice outside these last few days, and making a trip out to the zoo would be a great way to celebrate the end of school. The animals all miss you and can't wait for your visit.
