
Elon Musk’s Giant Fence Angers Austin Neighbors
If you were the world's richest man, you might think that you could do whatever you wanted. The ability to tie things up in court for a long time and grease the wheels of justice might embolden you to do something off the wall for your privacy.

Elon Musk has his fingers in so many things, you would think that his neighbors would cut him some slack. The mansion in the Austin suburb of West Lake Hills is sporting a black, multi-layer chain link fence.
The fence reminds me of fences in London around the sides and walkways of the palace. There could be razor wire at the top, if you can see all the way up there as the structure towers 16 feet into the air, and neighbors want it gone.

In West Lake Hills, Texas, mansion fences are supposed to be only 6 feet, and this property supposedly owned by Musk went a full 10 feet over that. The property managers admitted that the fence was installed without a permit in 2022.

This supposed oversight from the property manager at the time is now being resolved in various city council meetings. There were trees and greenery planted to obscure the fence, but nothing further has been done.
According to KXAN, residents say the property is a nuisance with shift changes for security details arriving three times a day. Cars are coming and going from the mansion, ruining the laid-back, quiet atmosphere of the neighborhood.
