Is Glenn Howerton using the D.E.N.N.I.S. system on Always Sunny fans? After years demonstrating value and nurturing dependence, the departed FX star inspired hope of a potential Season 13 return, and now suggests over Twitter he might separate entirely.

Back at the TCA press tour panel for Howerton’s new NBC series A.P. Bio, the Always Sunny creator and star stressed that he hadn’t “officially” left the FXX series, and that scheduling for his new NBC show would “absolutely” allow him time for both. The Sunny Season 13 writers’ room hasn’t begun to sort out Dennis’ exit, but this weekend saw an incensed Howerton taking to Twitter to walk back any assurances of his return, and clarify its relationship to A.P. Bio:

It’s of interest to note that Howerton separates himself from Dennis; suggesting involvement with writing and production, but no on-camera work. It was previously said that production might begin in late spring after Kaitlin Olson’s work on The Mick, with late 2018 as a potential premiere date. Star Charlie Day also previously suggested that Season 13 might see Howerton’s onscreen return at least part of the season, as Day doesn’t want to continue the show without Dennis.

We’ll hopefully hear more on Sunny’s 2018 prospects before long, so check out the A.P. Bio trailer below and stay tuned.
