Anytime any of the roads in the middle of Nacogdoches are closed for construction - or really, closed for any reason - it can become quite the inconvenience. I was in college when they were widening Starr Street, and it was always an ordeal to have to plan to avoid that construction.

Now, there is a section of Austin Street that is closed from North Street to Raguet Street. It's a section of road that isn't even a quarter-mile long. However it's been under construction for a while now. I realize how busy these projects become, with the leveling of the land, the moving of utilities and power lines, the paving of the road, the pouring of new sidewalks, and more. But, it almost looks as if the Austin Street project has come to a screeching halt, in mid-construction. I drove by today, and this is what I saw:

It's still closed...but it looks so close to being completed. Perhaps just a bit more concrete work for the sidewalk, painting the striping, and it looks as if it would be done. But, maybe there's more that I'm not seeing. Also, there was no construction equipment that I could see.

I did consider that maybe all the construction effort is being focused on two larger projects in Nacogdoches. One of the ones that I'm referring to is the interstate flyover, just south of town. The other is a brand new project that just started on University Drive, going from NE Stallings to at least Main Street.
