Huge 25 Pound Drug Bust In Wells, Texas From A Traffic Stop
Living in East Texas we all know the places not to speed. Drivers will find towns like Huntington, Corrigan, and Diboll are unexpectedly well patrolled.
Wells is also a town that readily enforces traffic laws on Highway 69. Just a few miles outside of Lufkin the speed limit goes down as you travel through town.
Speeding in Wells at 78 MPH in a 50 MPH zone is ill-advised. Doing so with around 25 LBS of loose leaf marijuana, commercial dab products, live resin, and concentrated cannabis pens is just mind-blowing.
It Didn't Take Long To Find The Source
On Wednesday, December 29, at 11 PM Officer Molina was on patrol and noticed the driver going faster than he should. He then hit the car with radar confirming that he was 28 MPH over the posted 50 MPH speed limit.
The officer hit the lights and initiated a traffic stop. Once he made contact he smelled the strong odor of marijuana.
Little did he know that he was about to uncover a huge amount of THC-laden products. After a brief conversation with the driver, he inspected the vehicle. Officer Molina located a large black duffle bag in the back of the SUV like something right out of a movie.
The driver, Cody Gelvin from Canton, Texas, was arrested for possession of marijuana and taken to the Cherokee County Jail without incident.
This Guy Had An Entire Dispensary In His Car
Looking at the pictures from the bust this is way more than just regular marijuana. Other possible drug charges are pending once lab testing is complete.
Concentrated marijuana products can carry heavier fines in the state of Texas. Possession of THC concentrates is treated as a felony in Texas at any weight.
