It may take longer than an instant, but it is possible to make wine in your Instant Pot.  If you've got some grape juice in the pantry and the weekend to experiment, this could be the biggest conversation piece at your New Year's Eve party.

The Instant Pot was one of the hottest gifts again this Christmas for those over the age of twenty, and many of us are thinking, "Awesome!  Now what?"

Food blogger, David Murphy, figured out how to turn grape juice into alcohol via the Instant Pot, and if we can pull this off it may revolutionize our football parties, New Year's Eve gatherings, and regular Sunday night dinners.  Murphy says you've got to have an Instant Pot with a yogurt function and some ambition, and then you'll be ready to give it a try.

The initial phase for making wine in the Instant Pot takes about 48 hours, and you'll need a 64-ounce bottle of Welch's grape juice, a cup of granulated sugar, a funnel, a packet of Lalvin Red Wine Yeast, and clear packing tape, according to Murphy's food blog.  The full instructions are HERE, and you'll see that it's a process of letting the mixture heat up, rest, release bubbles, and sit in the dark for a while.

It might be a little ambitious to try and have this concoction ready by New Year's Eve.  Murphy said it will taste a little fizzy at first, but if you let it sit for 8 days or more, you'll be in the clear.

This Instant Pot-wine-making adventure sounds like something to try just to see if you can do it.  It would be a whole lot easier to drive down to the liquor store and pick up a bottle of your favorite vino for twelve bucks, but if you want to impress your friends with your abilities to ferment something from the pantry, this will be the way to do it.

Let us know if it's good!
