I know that I can't be the only who opens up Facebook and immediately sees people wishing for new stores and attractions to come into their area. If we're being honest, I'm actually one of those people. I think it's just basic human nature to wish for things like that.

While we're on that note, let's look at something that Deep East Texas could benefit from having: It's very own Bass Pro Shop. Go with me on this one.

The Deep East Texas Location Would Be Ideal

First of all, having both the Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend lakes in the region would be ideal for the outdoor retailer. Not to mention Lake Livingston, Lake Nacogdoches, and Lake Naconiche. The fishermen alone might be enough to make this a great addition to the area.

However, since we have just as many - if not more - hunters in Deep East Texas, and since the Bass Pro Shops cater to hunters, too, it makes an even better case to have one in our neck of the woods.

There's Not Another One Close

As of right now, the closest Bass Pro Shop location is in Tyler. The closest one after that is in Bossier City, and coming in third closest is the location in Spring, just north of Houston.

Texas is huge, so it'd be a good idea to shorten commutes, right?

The Timing Right Now is Pretty Good

Need another reason? The fact that the construction on the new interstate, I-69, is ramping up makes for a pretty good case, too. If they were to start building now in Lufkin or Nacogdoches, they could build right alongside the interstate.

Ideally, they could complete both projects - the store AND the interstate - around the same time, and construction wouldn't hinder either completed project.

*BONUS: I'm Not Picky - Cabela's Would Work, Too*

Since the three closest locations are literal Bass Pro Shop brands, and since Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops are merging, I wouldn't be opposed to Cabela's being the choice to move in. It would work just as well.

I don't have any sway in bringing in stores and making this happen, but if you know someone, let 'em know!
