Deep East Texas Is Down to Just One Single GNC Store

GNC stores are probably the most common vitamin shops that there are. At least, that's the first one that comes to my mind when I'm think about where to get vitamins and supplements. However, in Deep East Texas, they're not common. In fact, there's just one location in our entire region.

Nacogdoches Has the Only GNC Store

Throughout Deep East Texas, there is only one GNC store in operation. That location is in Nacogdoches. It's in the University Park Plaza at 3205 North University Drive. It's been in that plaza for as long as I can remember.

Now, there used to be another location in Lufkin. It was actually in the Lufkin Mall. However, that's not the case anymore. I walked in the mall the other day, and this is what I saw:

Yes, that was the GNC Lufkin Mall location for years. It survived COVID and held on for a few years. I'm not even sure when it closed. I just walked in and it was completely shuttered.

GNC Stores in Texas

According to the GNC website, there are 207 stores in the state of Texas. We have one here in our neck of the woods. The closest ones are Palestine, Huntsville, Longview and Tyler. So, if you don't want to go to Nacogdoches for whatever reason, you'll have to drive a bit to get them.

I'm guess I'm just still surprised that the Lufkin location shut down. I didn't see anything online about it shutting down. It was just gone. How long has it been closed? Surely, I can't have been totally oblivious to the notifications...
