Ice Cubes In A Box Are A Thing Now And The Freezer Aisle Will Never Look The Same
I know that earlier I was posting about unfamiliar Blue Bell flavors that I spotted while I was at the grocery store in Nacogdoches. Well, it turns out that those weren't the only unfamiliar things I found on my trip. There was something that I've never seen sold in boxes before.
You Can Buy Frozen Ice Cubes in Boxes
It turns out that you can buy boxes of frozen ice cubes right out of the freezer at the grocery store. Now, before you go off on me, I'm used to buying bags of ice and bulk ice for coolers and things. Come on, I grew up here in Deep East Texas spending my time on the lake, playing ball in the summer, all the things. I'm used to buying ice. What I'm not used to is seeing boxes like this:

Yes, that is a box of four ice cubes. You can buy it out of the same freezer as your frozen desserts. This is a new concept for me, one that I definitely wasn't expecting to see.
When I first saw it, I thought it was a box of the reusable, synthetic ice cubes. You know the ones that I'm talking about? They're made of plastic or rubber. You chill them in the freezer, put them in your drink, then when you're done you put them back into the freezer and the whole cycle starts over. You can also find the stone versions of those. Same concept, same routine, different material.

But no, these were literally just frozen cubes of water. Sure, it might sound simple, but this was kind of mind-blowing to me. I think I'll stick with making my own ice cubes at home...
