It wasn't that long ago that Nacogdoches hosted the Oldest Town in Texas Motorcycle Rally. For one weekend, right around this time every year, you would hear bikes all over Deep East Texas roaring down the road heading for the Nacogdoches County Expo Center.

When I was looking for information on the OTT Rally, I came across the official OTT Rally Facebook page. According to it, the last rally took place in 2017. After that, it went away completely. My question is this: Is it time to bring it back?

Now That We've Had a Break, it Could Be the Perfect Time for an OTT Return

Considering that it's been nine years since the last OTT Rally, this would make an awesome time for a return. If you - whoever the deciding powers are - were to start planning for a return rally, how awesome would it be to make a return in 2027? That would mean that the event would make its comeback exactly 10 years after it made its exit!

Considering that it's predominantly an outdoor event, people that are still concerned about being in close quarters with others wouldn't have to be as worried about it. Plus, if you hold it around this time of year, it's USUALLY not too hot or cold. It can be a pretty great time.

Could an OTT Rally Really Happen?

I know that one of the biggest concerns when people start discussing big events like this revolves around the costs associated with them. How much will it cost for travel expenses like fuel to get to the event? How much will it cost to pay for merchandise and other items at the event? How much will it cost for staffing fees like security and maintenance? And these are just three questions of the hundreds that come up.

Maybe I'm just optimistic, but I think there could be enough interest and participation to make it worth everyone's time and effort. I see lots of people on the roads on their Harleys, and I think that it could actually happen.

Yes, it would take tons of work to make it happen, but I could see it making a comeback. What about you?
