Spurs fans are not exactly known for being subtle.

From the nonstop honking after playoff wins to entire crowds screaming “GO SPURS GO” like it’s a statewide ritual, San Antonio fully turns into basketball chaos every time the Spurs get hot. And now that the Spurs are officially headed to the NBA Finals, the celebrations are somehow getting even louder.

But somehow, the most entertaining part of this entire playoff run has not been the basketball itself.

It’s the nuns!

The Spurs Nuns Have Become The Internet’s Favorite Fans

If you’ve spent even five minutes online during the Spurs’ playoff run, chances are you’ve already seen them.

A group of Catholic sisters wearing Spurs jerseys over their habits, cheering courtside like lifelong superfans, and somehow becoming one of the most wholesome viral stories of the NBA Finals.

The now-famous “Spurs Nuns” are officially the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco, and apparently they have been supporting the Spurs for years. The sisters recently went massively viral after cameras kept cutting to them during playoff games, instantly making them internet favorites.

And I am totally a fan!

Even as somebody who does not regularly watch basketball, I would absolutely tune in to see how the Spurs Nuns are reacting courtside.

Some Fans Think The Spurs May Have An Unfair Advantage

At this point, there are probably NBA fans convincing themselves the Spurs have some sort of divine playoff assistance happening.

Because not only are the sisters showing up to games, one viral moment even showed them blessing Spurs players before a matchup.

I’m just saying… if your team has actual nuns praying for you before the NBA Finals, that feels a little difficult to compete with.

The internet immediately ran with it too, joking that the Spurs now officially have Jesus on their side for the Finals run.

Was it an unfair advantage for Spurs to tap into Jesus and roll out the Nuns?

The Spurs Nuns Feel Very Texas In The Best Way

That’s probably why this story has blown up beyond basketball fans.

The Spurs Nuns somehow feel like the perfect mix of Texas sports culture and wholesome internet chaos. They’re passionate, loyal, dramatic during games, and fully committed to supporting San Antonio.

And I think they fit right in with Spurs fans.
