Texas Heat Is No Match for Peak S’mores Season Fun
Did you know this week is peak S'MORES season? It's when Instacart sees the biggest spike in orders of graham crackers and marshmallows together. And here in Texas? We might be dodging mosquitoes and grilling in triple-digit temps, but that’s not stopping us from getting our s’mores fix. Whether it’s backyard bonfires, lake trips, or just using the sun-heated hood of your truck, Texans are finding creative- and sometimes ridiculous- ways to celebrate summer’s gooey MVP.
Can you blame Texans, though? With Fourth of July right around the corner, you know it's the perfect time for s'mores! And they're super simple, as a wise man once said:
First you take the graham. You put the chocolate on the graham. Then, you roast the mallow. When the mallow's flaming, you stick it on the chocolate. Then you cover it with the other end. Then, you scarf. Kind of messy, but good!
So how are Texans actually doing s’mores season in 2025?
Let’s be honest, between the burn bans, the mosquitoes, and the fact that it’s hot enough to melt your flip-flops, building a real campfire in July isn’t always an option in Texas. But that doesn’t mean s’mores are off the table. If anything, Texans are just getting more creative (and resourceful).
From swapping out classic ingredients for local favorites, like those Dr. Pepper marshmallows, to roasting marshmallows over mesquite grills, we’re giving this summertime staple the Lone Star treatment.
Here’s how Texans are making s’mores hot again- and why it’s never been a better time to embrace the sticky chaos.
