Kanye West Thought Kim Kardashian Would Leave Him After Slavery Comments
It's been quite a year for Kanye West already: he's produced five albums (including his solo LP, Ye, and Kids See Ghost with Kid Cudi), has traveled the United States to promote said projects, and is hard at work on his ever-growing Yeezy collection. Now thanks to a new interview, we know exactly what's been going on in the mind of one of hip-hop's elite as of late.
In an interview with The New York Times, published Monday (June 25), Kanye shares his thoughts on everything from President Trump to his highly-publicized marriage with reality superstar, Kim Kardashian. Whilst speaking on Kim, 'Ye admits "the energy levels were low" between the two after his appearance on TMZ Live. To jog your memory, the "I Thought About Killing You" MC ruffled a few feathers when he told the crew, "When you hear about slavery for 400 years, for 400 years?! That sounds like a choice."
Afterward, Yezzy had to question the affect of his comments on his marital status. "I called different family members and was asking, you know, ‘Was Kim thinking about leaving me after TMZ?'" Kanye revealed to Jon Caramanica. “So that was a real conversation.”
Kim Kardashian continues to stand by her husband despite his string of recent outbursts. On "Wouldn't Leave" off Ye, the Chicago lyricist addresses his comments and his wife's support through it all spitting, "They say, 'Build your own,' I said, 'How, Sway?'/I said, 'Slavery a choice,' they say, 'How, Ye?'/Just imagine if they caught me on a wild day/Now I'm on fifty blogs gettin' fifty calls/My wife callin,' screamin,' say, 'We 'bout to lose it all!'/Had to calm her down 'cause she couldn't breathe/Told her she could leave me now, but she wouldn't leave."
In the Times article, 'Ye also revealed Kim staged an intervention for the rapper last year after he was released from U.C.L.A. Medical Center for a mental breakdown. In another part of the interview, the rap vet told Jon that his father is not a fan of some of President Trump's policies. “He expressed that he felt that some of the policies were hurtful and that I’m a person that does not intend to hurt people, never hurts people with intention," he shared.
