We received some shocking news from the world of comedy as we have learned that legendary comedian Paul Mooney has died.

According to TMZ, Mooney died after suffering a heart attack at his home in Oakland on Wednesday morning. It was reported that Mooney has been suffering from dementia in recent years which is why he has stayed out of the public eye over the last few years.

Mooney is widely remembered for his work on Chappelle's Show where he appeared in hilarious sketches like "Ask A Black Dude", "Paul Mooney On Movies" and "Negrodamus". But before that, Mooney was well respected and highly regarded writer for his many years of collaboration with comedy legend Richard Pryor.

Pryor and Mooney worked for decades on various projects including the short lived "The Richard Pryor Show" on NBC where Mooney was head writer and Pryor's "Live From The Sunset Strip" stand up movie. He also wrote for other TV shows and movies including "In Living Color" and "Sanford and Son".

He also acted in several films including Spike Lee's "Bamboolzed", "The Buddy Holly Story" and "Hollywood Shuffle". His brand of comedy was scathing and at times controversial with his takes on race and politics in America.
