Lena Dunham's endured her fair share of media fiascos (here's one! here's another!), but she says even she could never successfully weather the slut-shaming storm that's encompassed Taylor Swift over the years.

Dunham talked about everything from the forthcoming season of Girls to Twitter trolls during an interview with The Howard Stern Show yesterday (February 6), and noted she can't believe her good buddy Swift is still subjected to such judgment for simply dating as a 27-year-old.

“It’s so hard,” she said. “I think about the relationships that I had in my early twenties and if they had been public, it would’ve been a disaster.”

Dunham added that being critical of Swift's love life is a sexist double-standard, and noted famous women are constantly at a deficit in the context of romance.

“I mean, not to repeat age-old feminist points, but it’s like, you know, any male actor her age who’s going out and dating is applauded,” she said. “To just have a perfectly normal amount of romantic partners but be held to impossibly high standards by the press. Like, it’s just an unfair and unwinnable game.”

Swift, herself, previously acknowledged the media attention her relationships have received during an interview with Vogueduring which she answered the question "What's the one thing you wish you knew at 19?" with this:

"You're gonna date just like a normal 20-something should be allowed to, but you're going to be a national lightning rod for slut shaming."
