This business has been open for nearly 250 years.

It takes guts to start a business. It also takes a lot of heart, passion and money. I have a lot of respect for people who are able to get a business off of the ground and I'm fascinated by the places that have stood the test of time.

Like Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar.

Lafitte's was founded in New Orleans in 1772 and according to Work and Money, it is the oldest business in Louisiana. It's a bar located on Bourbon street at the St. Philip corner. Work and Money says it is rumored that brothers Jean and Pierre Lafitte used the building for their smuggling operations.

Today it operates as a bar and continues to be a hot spot for tourists. This one is definitely going on my bucket list. The fact that a building has stood for nearly 250 years is fascinating to me!
