There are a lot of changes taking place all over Nacogdoches. There's the new construction that's taking place on the upcoming interstate on the south side of town, there's construction being done on the SFA campus, it seems like new restaurants and/or businesses are opening up weekly all over town, and that's just to name a few changes.

But, there's also a lot of work on the way. Lots of that work has to do with Nacogdoches ISD. Think back to over a year ago. Voters in Nac voted in favor of a huge $77.9 million bond for Nacogdoches ISD. This bond covered several major projects for NISD. One of those projects was to build a new campus for the Emeline Carpenter Elementary School. Today, over a year later, the people of Nacogdoches finally got a glimpse of what the new elementary school will look like, and when that construction project is set to begin.

The post below was from the Nacogdoches ISD Facebook page:

Presently, the Emeline Carpenter Elementary School is located just off Main Street in Nacogdoches, on Leroy Street. The future location of the school will be on Southeast Stallings Drive, just across the road from McMichael Middle School.

The ground breaking ceremony for the new school will take place on Friday, September 27th, at 2:00 PM. NISD officials are hopeful that this year will be the last full year at the current location. They plan on the opening the 2020-21 school year in the new Emeline Carpenter Elementary School campus.
