If you've ever cruised through some of our local pages on Facebook, there's a good chance that you've seen at least one or two pictures of the Nacogdoches Police Department featuring their "Pet of the Week".

Different officers go out to the Humane Society of Nacogdoches County animal shelter on Stallings Drive, and they feature one animal that is the "Pet of the Week". This is so that the local community can see which pets are looking for homes, and hopefully can get these animals into a permanent home.

They do this on a weekly basis - obviously, since the name is Pet of the WEEK - and they post pictures on Facebook. This week's NPD Sponsored Pet of the Week is Mae, and she's with Sargeant Brett Ayres. Mae is a six year-old chihuahua that's already been spayed. She only weighs six pounds, so she's a tiny little thing. Check out the post from the Nacogdoches Police Department Facebook page:

Pretty cool, right?

If you're looking to adopt Mae - or any of the other animals at the shelter - the adoption times are 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM. The shelter is located at 3211 NW Stallings Dr, in Nacogdoches.

Be sure to check back on the Nacogdoches Police Department Facebook page each week as they feature a different animal - it's not always dogs, they feature cats, too - for their Pet of the Week. Who knows? They could have just the right one for you!
