I know that we don't have a 7-11 in our area. To be perfectly honest, I'm not even sure where the closest one is located. However, what I do know is that lots of people - even people from right here in our neck of the woods, have made their way to one of the stores to celebrate "7-Eleven Day".

"7-Eleven Day" is held every year on - yes, you guessed it - July 11th (7/11). The 7-Eleven stores generally gave out free slurpees to customers on that day. You see, the slurpee is one of the 7-Eleven staples.

But, this year that won't be happening...at least, not the same as it has in the past.

According to a press release from 7-11, Inc., they "will not celebrate 7-Eleven Day" this year. Instead, they will be giving away one million meals to the hunger-relief organization, Feeding America.

However, if you were planning to make your way from Deep East Texas to the nearest 7-Eleven to get that slurpee on 7-Eleven Day, you don't have to give up just yet. In the same press release, 7-Eleven, Inc. did make the announcement that on July 1st, all of their loyalty app members would be receiving a coupon for a free medium slurpee.

So, even though there won't be an official celebration of 7-Eleven Day this year, there's a good cause going on, and you still get the chance to have that slurpee!
