If you’ve done any serious grocery shopping over the past couple of months, you’ve probably noticed price increases on some of our basic necessities. Prices are up overall by about 3%. This represents the largest price hike since 1974. But the higher prices did not keep us from buying. American spending on groceries is up by more than 25%. Part of the reason for that is many restaurants have been closed or have limited access. More and more of us are preparing food at home rather than eating out.

Right now there are no shortages of food, but we did find higher prices on several key items you might be shopping for these days.
