Public Shows Coming To The SFASU Planetarium in Nacogdoches, Texas
Having a planetarium nearby is a relatively new thing here in Deep East Texas. It is inside the Ed and Gwen Cole STEM building that opened on campus in the fall of 2018.
They have many other STEM-focused, science-based learning opportunities located inside, but the planetarium has always drawn my attention. It could be that it is one of the most sophisticated in the state of Texas.
It has a nano-seam dome that is 50 feet in diameter and a 4K Digistar projection system. I think that means that it looks really cool when you are inside. There is also an amazing sound system with full surround sound.
SFA Planetarium Shows Anyone Can Attend In Nacogdoches
This is usually somewhere you would go on a planned school field trip or visit as a student at the college. It's not always open to the public, so this will be a special treat.
They haven't actually published which presentation they will project onto that huge dome just yet. In the past they have shown Secret Lives Of Stars, and for the youngsters, The Little Star That Could during the 3 pm matinee.
If you have never been before this would be a very educational way to spend a Saturday afternoon. It's also very economical and would be very memorable for the price.
