Where once it seemed all our supernatural Riverdale dreams might come true, Netflix’s Sabrina has broken that spell. Despite the latter being designed as a spinoff, showrunners confirm the two series will be sticking to their own separate universes.

Both Sabrina and the sexy teens of Riverdale fall under the same Archie Comics banner, but CEO Jon Goldwater confirmed to TVLine that the logistics are too difficult to crack (for now). As it is, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has not yet booked a premiere date for its two Netflix seasons, while Riverdale keeps to a more traditional broadcast schedule on The CW. Says Goldwater, “Right now, we’re not thinking about that. They’re two separate entities for right now.”

Prior to the Netflix series’ development, Riverdale bosses had nodded toward a potential Sabrina appearance. Riverdale has also referenced the character’s hometown of Greendale, as both series are written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. All the same, the as-yet-unofficially-titled new series will feature Mad Men alum Kiernan Shipka as the title character, along with Doctor Who favorite Michelle Gomez as Madam Satan, Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto as Hilda and Zelda Spellman, Ross Lynch as Harvey Kinkle, Bronson Pinchot as Sabrina’s principal, and more.

We’ll hopefully have more details on the new Sabrina before long, but will Netflix and The CW ever find a way to get those crazy kids together?
