Ellen Trout Zoo

Earth Day is all about learning to live in greener ways, and there are several ways to do it in Lufkin. The Ellen Trout Zoo is getting into Earth Day too.

We are getting ready for night one of Free Movies In The Park (Wednesday Oct 7th) at Ellen Trout Park. We gave everyone a few helpful hints and basic rules of the night last year, so I'm just posting these tips again to make sure everyone has a good time.

The Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin is hosting the ‘Zoo Brew’ this Saturday. Tickets are on sale at cityoflufkin.com. There will be 125 different beers to try and great food from restaurants all over town.

Today is the day! Ellen Trout Zoo’s annual Princess and the Frog Tea Party. This The Princess and the Frog has become a very popular event at the zoo for the girls. When it started there was one Tea for 50 kids. Now there are two Teas with 60 kids in each one...

Ellen Trout Zoo already had a Baby Lion last year, now some of the smaller cats might be moving into the spotlight. According to Zoo Director Gordon Henley,  Kabah, a 142 pound, male Jaguar arrived yesterday afternoon at the Ellen Trout Zoo.

I got a chance to meet Ellen Trout Zoo's new bundle of joy this afternoon!  The first lion cub of his kind to be born at the Zoo since the 70's doesn't have a name yet, and is already stealing hearts around the zoo.  I got to take a ton of pictures of him today, and some video to share.  There was a tour group of area children at the zoo so you might see one of your kids in the pictures!

Just got this link for the Tiger Cam today at Ellen Trout Zoo today, and I am hooked.  I kept it up on my computer all afternoon and shouted "Tigers! There Grrrr ate!" every time they showed up on the screen.  Very cool that you can also talk control of the camera...

I heard about this event last year, a little too late.  But let me tell you, this is the best thing going in this town.  You get to sample over 50 different beers and you don't even have to swish and spit! Dark Beer, Light Beer, Imports and Domestics, Zoo Brew had all kinds of suds...
