Tay-K's family and supporters are voicing their frustrations after police officer Amber Guyger received a surprising 10-year sentence for killing an unarmed man.

In a Facebook post published on Wednesday night (Oct. 2), Tay-K's sister Kayla Renee shared her thoughts on Guyger's sentence, which has drawn strong reactions from people around the country. As Renee notes, her brother Tay-K, who was charged as an adult in a murder case, received a harsher sentence of 55 years in prison for murder.

"Just so y'all know what white girl just got 10 years for a murder that she did commit, by walking into this mans HOME," Renee said in a Facebook status. "Meanwhile they just convicted my brother of murder and sentenced him to 55 years for a murder he did NOT commit because "he should've anticipated it." He should have anticipated that someone else would pointlessly pull a trigger in a situation that it was not necessary. But let's talk facts , y'all go look at the case facts. Get educated!"

Guyger, a former Dallas police officer, was found guilty of murdering her 27-year-old neighbor Botham Jean after she mistakingly entered his home thinking it was hers and shot him as if he were a burglar. Instead of receiving the maximum sentence of life behind bars she faced during her trial, Guyger was sentenced to 10 years in prison with eligibility for parole in five years.

Elsewhere in her post, Renee referenced the comparatively light sentence Tay-K's accomplice, who was also 16 at the time, received for her role in the July 2016 killing of 21-year-old Ethan Walker. The woman got 10 years of probation for her role in the crime, which Renee says the woman played a big role in.

"Yet [Tay-K] got the most time out of all the juveniles , while the white girl that set everything else and anticipated this robbery for MONTHS is eligible for parole Rn. FREE GAME 🗣,"

Renee's post caused "#FreeTayKCheck to trend on Twitter. Check out what Tay-K's fans have to say about his and Guyger's sentence below.
