35th Annual Texas State Forest Festival to Continue Amidst Rainy Weather
(Lufkin, TX – September 18) The show will go on when the gates open at 5 p.m. tonight for the 35th Annual Texas State Forest Festival, presented by Brookshire Brothers. Rain and thunder will not stop competitions, the petting zoo, live music, and so much more planned for this year’s Forest Festival. Tonight, festivities will kick-off with the East Texas Cheerleading Championship and Pom Pon/Dance Competition, hosted by Townsquare Media at 6 p.m. The annual competition will be held inside the George H. Henderson Expo Center. It will stay dry as the community cheers on their favorite team.
Live music will begin with Bryan Harkness tonight. Don’t worry, the stage and dance floor will be held under pavilions. So, enjoy the rain and stay dry, while sipping on your favorite beer or wine in the closed-in beer and wine garden while listening to some good tunes. The garden will be open Wednesday through Friday from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday noon-11 p.m., and Sunday 1-4 p.m. Of course, many
Festival favorite food and drinks will be under pavilions, as well. Festival attendees will be able to find tables and chairs safely dry from the rain to chow-down on their favorites, like a tall-glass of lemonade and a funnel cake or two.The youngest Festival attendees will still have plenty to do if the rain doesn’t go away this evening. The petting zoo will be open, along with the Kidz Science Safari set to begin at 5:30 p.m. and the Jurassic Kingdom Show set to go on at 7 p.m., plus more events and shows going on this evening will be safe and dry from the rainy weather.
