See This Historical Texas Revolution Reenactment In Nacogdoches
Nacogdoches is steeped in history and now you can see it come to life. The New Orleans Greys Reenactment at the Adolphus Sterne House is going on all this weekend from November 4th - 6th, 2022.
This event will chronicle events leading up to Texas' fight for Independence. The New Orleans Greys were the first large group of volunteer fighters that marched into Texas from the United States to help fight Mexico.
The Southern District Regulars, a group of living historians, are marching with the Texas Regulars from their camp at the Mission Dolores State Historical Site in San Augustine to Nacogdoches down Highway 7.
Be A Witness To History This Weekend In Nacogdoches, Texas
Nac Historic Sites is putting this event together to show the Nacogdoches civilian assistance in the war effort. There will be a reenactment of the citizens preparing for the arrival of the New Orleans Greys at the home of Adolphus Sterne.
Then on Saturday afternoon between 2 pm and 3 pm visitors can see the arrival of the New Orleans Greys as they march into Nacogdoches. The soldiers will make camp across the street from the Sterne house just like they did in 1835 when it was a peach orchard.
There will be interpreters and soldiers dressed in historically accurate clothing. Visitors will be allowed on the Sterne Hoya historic site during their normal hours from 10 am - 4 pm.
