The Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade is a tradition in many homes. The wacky balloons, the entertainment and the marching bands. One of those bands is the Great American Marching Band, a band of about 200 high school students from all across the country.

This year, a Tyler high school student will represent Texas in that marching band according to KLTV. Her name is Elizabeth Boynton, a senior at Tyler Lee. She plays clarinet in the Red Raider band.

She told KLTV, "I was watching the Macy’s Day Parade, the one from 2018, and I saw they had this marching band of high school students. I thought it would be cool to do that. So, I looked it up online and found that you could just audition for it."

Some 14,000 students auditioned for the marching band with only 200 chosen. Not only will she get to march in the parade before 50 million TV viewers but she also receives meals, lodging, sightseeing tour of New York, tickets to a Broadway show and more.

Elizabeth is ready for her trip, "I’m really excited to see the [Macy’s parade balloons] in person. I hope it snows."

Congratulations Elizabeth. All of East Texas will be watching Thanksgiving morning.
